The Jordan Hotels Association explores opportunities for cooperation with the Jordan Renewable Energy & and Energy Efficiency Fund to support the hotel sector and improve energy efficiency

The Jordan Hotels Association held a meeting on the morning of Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Association’s headquarters, chaired by Hussein Hilalat, Deputy Chairman of the Board, and attended by several board members, The meeting included Dr. Rasmi Hamzeh, Executive Director of the Jordan Renewable Energy & and Energy Efficiency Fund at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, along with a number of fund officials, The purpose of the meeting was to explore avenues for joint cooperation in implementing renewable energy programs and conducting energy audits in hotel establishments, with the aim of reducing operational costs and enhancing energy efficiency in the sector.

Hussein Hilalat opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and emphasizing the importance of this gathering in creating new opportunities to support hotel establishments and help them overcome challenges related to high energy costs.

He noted that cooperation with the Fund is a significant step towards enhancing the sustainability of the hotel sector by implementing practical solutions that reduce expenses and increase operational efficiency, which would positively impact the competitiveness of Jordanian hotels.

During the meeting the participants discussed opportunities to support hotel establishments through energy auditing programs and transitioning to more efficient systems, with the goal of reducing operational costs and promoting environmental sustainability.

Dr. Hamzeh affirmed that this collaboration aligns with the Fund’s vision to expand its programs to include the tourism sector, recognizing it as one of the key pillars of the national economy. He noted that the Fund would cover 50% of the cost of energy audit studies, in addition to offering a 25% subsidy for replacing high-energy-consuming equipment.

He also explained that the Fund would organize awareness sessions with hotel owners to clarify how to benefit from the program and provide specialized studies and practical solutions tailored to each establishment’s specific needs.

For his part, Hilalat stressed the commitment of the Jordan Hotels Association to establishing strategic partnerships that contribute to improving the performance and efficiency of its member establishments, particularly in light of the current economic conditions.

It is worth noting that the Renewable Energy Fund has successfully implemented several programs in hotels in Petra and Aqaba, which significantly improved energy efficiency and reduced costs—highlighting the importance of expanding this experience to other establishments across the Kingdom’s governorates.
